We're a million miles apart
In a thousand ways
Baby, you could light up the dark
Like a solar scape
Kylie Minogue
Can we all be as one again?
If you are reading this then there is a high chance that Meredith Music Festival (or Golden Plains) has touched your life in some way - perhaps you have met a special friend at 2am at the N15 water tank; maybe you were moved to tears during a set by an artist who has always wanted to see; maybe you looked around you and saw strangers smiling and dancing surprised by a band you have never heard of either; or perhaps you were struck by the natural beauty of the Supernatural Amphitheatre and it gave you a moment of peace in this chaotic world.
In a year of isolation hardship and division, the cancellation email from Aunty Meredith although not unexpected seemed a particularly cruel blow when a sense of community and connection driven by great music was needed more than ever. In trying to think of a way that Meredith's loyal followers could be united for the weekend by technology - Bootleg Meredith was born.
Inspired by triple j's Live At The Wireless - we thought what if we could pretend that Meredith was happening somewhere and we could just tune into it and listen together but separately?
So two music obsessives and Meredith tragics proposed a realistic all Australian Meredith lineup that we hope would make the booking team proud. (Mostly realistic - Kylie Minogue is dream booking and unlikely but it’s our lineup and we can dream)
Then we got to work searching the internet to bootleg live recordings for these 'sets' - thank you to all the incredible media outlets, radio stations and individuals who have recorded the sets we used.
Some sets are filled out with recorded tracks too.
Artists: Please forgive us for bootlegging
Listeners: Please use the links below to support these artists.
At 3:55pm on Friday 11th December - click the link below to tune listen in.
Thanks for checking out our ultimate fan letter to Aunty Meredith and helping us to celebrate great Australian music.
Enjoy, stay safe, support artists, tell your friends you love them and see you front left soon.

Meredith and Golden Plains are held on the traditional lands of the Wadawurrung people. These lands have seen people come together with music and dance as part of the worlds longest continuing culture.
Alex and Rosa put this crazy idea together on the lands of the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation.
We acknowledge the elders past present and emerging.
Sovereignty has never been ceded and it always was and always will be Aboriginal land.
Tell Us Something We Don't Know
We threw out this question to some Meredith lovers as Aunty Meredith does everything year - here's a selection of the useful, insightful and downright silly responses:
Near Tullamarine airport, if you take a turn onto the Tullamarine freeway as you arrive from Melbourne, there is an aeroplane viewing area open to the public, a large car park with a prime view of planes taking off and landing. There is a glowing Icecream & Kebabs van stationed there until the late hours of the night, too.
Meredith and Golden Plains are responsible for most of my friendships in Melbourne and beyond.
There’s a dude who goes on a morning run around Blue Gums and South Pines.
Bush camp isn’t worth the early start unless it’s going to be hot weather, stay in Kevin.
In the great storm year in the late 00's, I had to cut my pants into shorts at the Vanessa bus because they were so muddy and waterlogged.
If you grab (borrow) a strangers esky close by the front of the stage, walk it into the crowd and place it by the fence line just by one of the side speakers, then stand on said esky and look out over the crowd, you'll get the greatest view of the fest! It's quite the experience!
George Miller was a doctor before he directed Mad Max and his work in emergency departments and his upbringing in Chinchilla inspired a lot of the realism and imagery in the films.
Texan guitarist David DiDonato has the world record for longest guitar solo at 24 hours and 54 minutes.
5am shower sex is pretty wild.
When diving, your colour vision changes. Red nearly disappears at around 5 meters, followed by orange at 10 meters, yellow at 20 meters, green at 30 meters and eventually even blue at 60 meters.
In July 1997, Diana attended Gianni Versace's funeral in Milan, Italy.
This is the first Meredith I've ever missed.
Thank you to the incredible team at Meredith Music Festival - everyone from the Nolans and the festival founders to the volunteer, food outlet workers, cleaners, build crews, sound crews...everyone else who makes sure the festival runs year after year.
Thank you to every single artist who has played and every interstitial DJ.
Thank you to every person made a new friend at the Sup, every person who smiled at someone they didn't know in a crowd, helped someone out who wasn't have the best time they could have or went above and beyond to make this festival a dickhead free zone.
This project is for you.
If you have any compliments or complaints about this project please direct them to these dickheads
